Edgerton: HOME ALONE SAFETY CLASS EDGERTON HOSPITAL OFFERS HOME ALONE SAFETY CLASS
Edgerton Hospital and Health Services will offer a Home Alone Safety class on Saturday, March 13, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the hospital. This Home Alone Safety course is offered for children ages nine and older and will cost $20 to attend. Lunch is included in the cost, and parents are asked to drop off and pick up their children according to the scheduled times. Because class size is limited, we ask that you register by calling 608-884-1609, or online at www.edgertonhospital.com.
The Home Alone Safety class is designed for children ages nine years and older who may be home for a short period of time without an adult. The course will provide the children with the resources they will need to feel more confident and comfortable during the times when they are home alone. Topics covered will include injury prevention, basic first-aid, fire safety, stranger danger and healthy snack ideas. While it is Edgerton Hospital’s goal to educate children on home alone safety, parents/guardians should always assume responsibility for deeming what is appropriate for their child, as not every child may be ready for the responsibilities that come along with staying home alone.
####
Edgerton Hospital is a Critical Access Hospital. The hospital serves the communities of Edgerton, Milton and surrounding communities. Founded in 1923, the facility offers inpatient, outpatient, surgical, diagnostic, emergency, urgent care and rehabilitation services. It is a limited affiliate of SSM Health Care of Wisconsin. Feast of Divertimenti
Featuring the exciting, new
Beloit Janesville Chamber Ensemble
Directed by Robert Tomaro
It’s time to party like it was 1779 as the new Beloit Janesville Chamber Ensemble offers an evening of light classical works in a form of music that Mozart pretty much invented. He wrote 37 of these charming "divertimenti" for various groupings of instruments. They were intended for all sorts of social functions such as after-dinner soirees, alfresco picnics, and for serenading lovers from beneath the balcony on their "name day." In this case, our newest ensemble entertains you as you enjoy a concert “in the round,” accompanied by an 18th century spring picnic.

Edgerton - Town Hall meeting focusing on youth drug As a result of recent community events, the Edgerton Coalition for a Healthy Community is hosting a Town Hall meeting focusing on youth drug use on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Edgerton. All community members are encouraged to attend this free event. It will be a great opportunity to obtain and share valuable information for parents and teens. A free dinner will also be provided.
The goal of the meeting is to discuss underage drinking and drug abuse, as well as possible solutions for the community. Edgerton’s Chief of Police, Tom Klubertanz, will be on hand to speak about Crime Stoppers’ involvement in Edgerton and the Safe Reporting program. In addition, a panel presentation will consist of:
• Norm Fjelstad – Edgerton School Superintendant
• Dennis Pauli – Incoming Superintendant
• Mark Coombs – High School Principal
• Jerry Roth – Middle School Principal
• Jon Schleusner – Elementary School Principal
• Erin Springstead – School Counselor
• Susan Running – School Counselor
Underage drinking and drug abuse is a major concern for the entire community of Edgerton. The Town Hall meeting is a chance for the public to share and gain insight into the growing problems facing our youth and the epidemic of drug use and abuse. For more information, please contact Andy Anselmi at 608-884-9402, ext. 315.
###
ECHC’S MISSION is to create a safe and drug free environment by raising awareness, educating, and supporting positive change for the community and youth.
